First Visit

We are always excited about meeting new patients during their first visit to our office.

Your initial appointment with Dr. Grisius will consist of a thorough examination and a discussion of any potential orthodontic needs. This important 60-minute visit will give us insight into the patient’s overall orthodontic status.

During the initial examination, we will address the following questions that cover the basics of orthodontic treatment. We encourage you to ask questions as well.

  • Is there a condition that requires orthodontic treatment?
  • Is treatment recommended now or should treatment be delayed until appropriate growth, tooth eruption or other factors have occurred?
  • What type of treatment is suggested to correct the problem?
  • How long will treatment take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • What are my payment options?

While we can often answer these general questions about treatment during the initial examination, we will address specific areas after careful analysis of diagnostic records. If Dr. Grisius recommends orthodontic treatment, a subsequent appointment will be arranged to acquire diagnostic records. The records are acquired in our office and include appropriate X-rays, photos and a digital intraoral (iTero) scan of the teeth. These are studied by Dr. Grisius to develop a detailed treatment plan. We feel it is important to analyze each patient’s specific needs, because in-depth planning leads to better results and higher patient satisfaction.

If it is determined that orthodontic treatment will be beneficial in the future, after further dental development, the patient will be scheduled for complimentary follow-up “observation” appointments until the timing is appropriate.

Once Dr. Grisius has developed a treatment plan, a consultation visit is arranged to discuss the diagnostic findings and the treatment plan in detail. We insist that our patients leave the office with a clear understanding of their specific needs, what the treatment will consist of, how long it will take and their financial obligation.
